We at DHS are considering putting on a ref seminar. Why, you ask?
Well, the first reason being that the deadhorse crew, whom we have relied on so heavily for the last year has expressed interest in playing. Their consistency in the enforcement and pratical application of the rules has been a huge part in the success of our games.
second, We here at DHS believe consistency in reffing is a paramount key to the success of any event. For that reason, we are considering a scenario ref seminar to increase the pool of QUALIFIED refs in the Houston area.
This would be a one day seminar lasting approximately 4 hours. The course will place heavy emphasis on interpretation and understanding of the GSRP 3.02 rule set used by DHS. It would also cover specialty MOS's and identification of mission types and their requirements.
The seminar will be hosted at a field location that has yet to be determined and would be taught by Myself with assistance from other qualified individuals. My experience includes 5 years as an ultimate ref for a national scenario company with direct contributions to the GSRP 3.02 rule set. I am the author of the "Player Safety Program" taught by "The Paintball Training Institute", and was one of the first class of certified referees from PTI. I also have over 28 years of experience in the sport of Paintball, Have captained several teams, and am currently the Director of Darkhorse Scenarios.
The cost for this? Our first seminar will cost you.... NADA...ZERO...ZIP! (after that,IF we hold a second one there may be a nominal fee of five to ten dollars to help cover materials.) With scenario paintball coming back strong in the Houston area, We feel that a qualified pool of refs is essential to a successful return and to maximize the players enjoyment. AS SUCH, it is the intention of DHS, that we will only accept individuals who have satisfactorily completed this program to ref our events. Ensuring the highest quality and levels of reffing at scenario events is our goal, at to that end we are prepared to dedicate our own personal time to make this a reality.
SO...is there enough interest out there to make this happen??
There is no poll, we want to hear your comments and responses on this before proceeding.
